الاتحاد الدولي للسباحة يعلن عن انشاء مركز اقليمي للتميز في البحرين

أعلن الاتحاد الدولي للسباحة والالعاب المائية واللجنة الأولمبية البحرينية عن خطط لإنشاء مركز جديد للتميز في الرياضات المائية في مملكة البحرين ، بالشراكة مع مجموعة جي إف إتش المالية والاتحاد البحريني للسباحة.
وستشهد الشراكة إنشاء مركز عالمي للالعاب المائية في جامعة البحرين التكنولوجية. ستسهم في تمكين نخبة من السباحين العالميين للوصول الى هذا المركز ، مما يمكنهم من تعزيز فرصهم التدريبية. كما سيستخدم الرياضيون في مجال التطوير المرفق الجديد ، حيث يتلقون التدريب والدعم التعليمي في الموقع من خلال برامج تطوير الرياضة المائية العالمية .
وبهذه المناسبة قال رئيس الاتحاد الدولي للسباحة حسين مسلم :"انا متحمس لهذه الشراكة مع مملكة البحرين وأضاف: "إن خططنا لمركز التميز هنا ستكون مثالا للعالم". "وستمكن الرياضيون ذوو الأداء العالي أن يكونوا في أفضل حالاتهم عندما يتمكنون من الاستفادة من المرافق والتدريب والعلوم الرياضية.
ونحن نسعى الى ان يوفر الاتحاد الدولي للسباحة هذا الدعم الكبير لكل الاتحادات الوطنية ويسعدنا ان ندرج مكونا تعليميا بمساعدة جامعة البحرين للتكنولوجيا."
واسار مسلم الى ان الالعاب المائية تعتبر من اهم الالعاب حيث شهدت كل من دورة الألعاب الأولمبية طوكيو 2020 وبطولة العالم للألعاب المائية - بودابست 2022 تمثيل أكثر من 180 دولة. وقال :"نحن ممتنون للبحرين ومضيفي مراكز التنمية الأخرى لدينا لمساعدتهم في ضمان حصول الرياضيين في الألعاب المائية في كل مكان على فرصة لتحقيق إمكاناتهم الحقيقية.
كما يمتلك الاتحاد الدولي للسباحة مراكز للتميز في كل من ثانيابورا (تايلاند) وداكار (السنغال) وكيب تاون (جنوب إفريقيا) وديفي (فلوريدا ، الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية).
كما تشمل اتفاقية التعاون التي تم الإعلان عنها اليوم في البحرين أيضا حمامات سباحة جديدة قادرة على استضافة الأحداث في خمس من الرياضات المائية العالمية الست: السباحة وكرة الماء والسباحة الفنية والغوص والغوص العالي. الرياضة السادسة، السباحة في المياه المفتوحة،و تخدم بالفعل بشكل جيد شواطئ البحرين هذه الغاية.
ويعد سمو الشيخ خالد بن حمد آل خليفة، رئيس اللجنة الأولمبية البحرينية، سباحا محترفا في المياه المفتوحة، بعد أن أكمل السباحة التي يبلغ طولها 31.5كم والتي تربط المملكة العربية السعودية بالبحرين، عبر خليج البحرين.
وقال الشيخ خالد بن حمد آل خليفة: "البحرين أمة من الجزر، توحدها المياه التي تحيط بنا: "لدينا فهم واضح جدا لقيمة الرياضات المائية. ونحن متحمسون للمساهمة في مستقبل الألعاب المائية العالمية، ليس فقط للبحرين ولكن لمنطقتنا والعالم. نتطلع إلى استضافة كبار الرياضيين في مجال الألعاب المائية من مختلف الدول، ومساعدتهم على تحقيق أحلامهم الرياضية، سواء كرياضيين أو كمشاركين في مسابقات الألعاب المائية العالمية."
وينافس سباحو البحرين في منافسات السباحة في كل دورة ألعاب أولمبية منذ سيدني عام 2000. سيكون مركز التميز العالمي الجديد للألعاب المائية، ومقره في حرم بوكس بارك التابع لجامعة التكنولوجيا في البحرين، بمثابة قاعدة تدريبية جديدة للاتحاد البحريني للسباحة. بالإضافة إلى ذلك، سيكون مكتبا إقليميا في البحرين
للالعاب المائية.
وقال هشام الريس، الرئيس التنفيذي لجي إف إتش: "نشعر بحماس كبير للشراكة في هذه المبادرة، التي لها أهمية كبيرة لمملكة البحرين وللاتحاد الدولي للسباحة".
وأضاف:"يتماشى المشروع مع التزام جي إف إتش و UTB الطويل الأمد والدعم المستمر لمواصلة تطوير البحرين والترويج لها كمركز إقليمي رائد للتعليم والسياحة الرياضية." نتطلع إلى العمل مع الاتحاد الدولي للسباحة واللجنة الأولمبية البحرينية لإنشاء منصة فريدة لجذب الرياضيين السباحيين من المنطقة وحول العالم لجمع مهاراتهم وتدريبها وتطويرها في البحرين ودعم تحقيق إمكاناتهم في الرياضة ".
World Aquatics Announces Centre of Excellence and Regional Office in Bahrain
World Aquatics and the Bahrain Olympic Committee today announced plans to create a new centre of excellence for aquatic sports in the Kingdom of Bahrain, in partnership with GFH Financial Group and the Bahrain Swimming Association. The partnership will see World Aquatics establish the centre at the University of Technology Bahrain.
World Aquatics’ elite athletes will have access to the centre of excellence, enabling them to enhance their training opportunities. Development athletes will also use the new facility, receiving on-site coaching and educational support through World Aquatics’ development programmes.
“I am extremely excited by this partnership with Bahrain. Our bold plans for a centre of excellence here will serve as an example to the world,” said World Aquatics President Husain Al-Musallam. “Our high-performance athletes are at their best when they can benefit from the right mix of facilities, coaching and sports science. World Aquatics is determined to ensure that this mix is available to athletes from all our national federations. And we are delighted to include an educational component with the help of the University of Technology Bahrain.”
“Aquatic sports are universally important. Both the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games and the World Aquatics Championships – Budapest 2022 saw over 180 nations represented. We are grateful to Bahrain and to the hosts of our other development centres for their help in ensuring aquatics athletes everywhere have the chance to fulfil their true potential.”
World Aquatics currently has operating centres of excellence in Thanyapura (Thailand), Dakar (Senegal), Cape Town (South Africa) and Davie (Florida, USA).
The plans announced today for Bahrain also include new pools capable of hosting events in five of the six World Aquatics sports: swimming, water polo, artistic swimming, diving, and high diving. The sixth sport, open water swimming, is already well-served from Bahrain’s beaches. Bahrain Olympic Committee President, HH Sheikh Khalid Bin Hamad Al-Khalifa is a renowned open water swimmer, having completed the 31.5 km swim linking the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia with Bahrain, across the Gulf of Bahrain.

We look forward to hosting leading aquatics athletes from different nations, and helping them achieve their sporting dreams, both as development athletes and as participants in World Aquatics competitions.”
“Today we have witnessed a historic agreement where the private sector will fully align with the government’s vision of promoting sports tourism in the Kingdom of Bahrain.”
Stated Faris Mustafa Al Kooheji, Secretary General of the Bahrain Olympic Committee: “This will be done by constructing a one-of-a-kind, exceptional centre for aquatic athletes.”

Bahraini athletes have competed in swimming at every Olympic Games since Sydney 2000. The new World Aquatics centre of excellence, based at the Box Park campus of the University of Technology Bahrain, will also serve as the new training base for the Bahrain Swimming Association. In addition, World Aquatics will open a regional office in Bahrain.
